The dining hall and flag quadrangle at Woodland Trails. | Upon arriving at camp, one of the first things we did was take the swim test. | The closing flag ceremony Monday night before dinner. | Meals in the dining hall were served buffet style, meaning you had to wait until your table was called and then go get in line for food. |
Good food! | Many of the patrols had an in-camp patrol gateway competition with each other. | We decided to raise our garrison flag at the Wednesday morning flag ceremony, so here we are preparing it to be raised.
Some Scouts decided it was too hot to sleep in the tents, so they brought their cots outside. | Breakfast Tuesday morning, and the sea of gold shirts. | Making a "useful camp gadget." | Perched on top of their finished gateway. |
Taking a break at the trading post. | Ice cream?
One of the lakefront merit badges offered at Woodland Trails was Small Boat Sailing. | Canoeing was also another popular lakefront merit badge.
Working on a fire-by-friction in the Firecrafter area. | During their free time, many Scouts worked on rank advancements. | Getting ready to cook a meal over an open fire, one of the many advancement requirements completed at summer camp. | Many Scouts at Woodland Trails had never heard of the Firecrafter program, since it is unique to Crossroads of America in Indiana, so Troop 516 put on a fire-by-friction demonstration for the camp. |
