| January 20-22, 2006 This year for our winter campout, we camped at Perfect North Slopes, participated in a klondike for half a day and then skiied 'till we dropped Saturday afternoon and evening. Click on a thumbnail for an expanded view of the picture. Photos 1 to 24 of 37 | |||
Saturday morning brought very strong winds to the area. Everyone was forced to cooking on the ground behind a wind buffer. | All the patrols got their dining flies set up Friday night, only to wake up Saturday and find them collapsed and their many pieces scattered about. | We camped at Perfect North Slopes next to their snow tubing area in this nice grassy field. | Trying to cook and eat breakfast. |
One of the older scout patrols turned their dining fly into a wind shelter in an effort to stay warm. | Getting ready to start the klondike. | Getting ready to start the klondike. | Getting ready to start the klondike. |
Getting ready to start the klondike. | One of the events in the klondike was fire building. | Another event in the klondike was a sled race. Unfortunately the only thing missing here is the snow.
The start of the race. | Each team had to pull their sled with one of the assistant scoutmasters riding on-board. | Each team had to pull their sled with one of the assistant scoutmasters riding on-board.

Perfect North was definitely lacking snow on Saturday. Some runs had less snow than others. | After lunch we started our 8-hour skiing session. | Sunset over the slopes. | Taking a break for dinner. |
